On Saturday February 27th, 2010, 80 robotics teams from all over South Texas came together at Pearland High School for the South Texas First Lego League State Championship. These teams were the best of each of their qualifying regionals. Hogg had seven teams qualify for the tournament. One of our 6th grade teams (Jesse Castillo, Ricky Espinosa, Ricardo Salas, Nathan Estrada) made it to the tournament quarterfinals. An eighth grade team (Frankie Contreras, Alberto Ruiz, Francisco Tinoco, Brayn Delgado, Suemy Cruz, Sonia Rodriguez) made it to the semifinals. A mixed seventh and eighth grade team (David Torres, Joanna Torres, Elizabeth Nolazco, Edward Sotello, Osmar Barrera, Pilar Hernandez) made it all the way to the final four of the tournament. This team unfortunately experienced technical difficulties with their robot in the final four match of the tournament. They went on to a playoff for third place and were succesful.
